Job Description: 

The Larimer County Finance Division is looking for an Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and will be forward thinking, assertive, possess exceptional interpersonal skills and have the ability to create and manage successful teams. The person in this new position will be responsible for directly supervising four professional accountants. The primary functions for this group are financial reporting, preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures and Financial Awards (SEFA) and overseeing the management of the County’s capital assets.

The candidate will also be responsible for mentoring and supervising assigned staff, including establishing work schedules, assigning tasks, reviewing work and the preparing employee performance evaluations.

Skills/Experience Needed Ability to read, interpret and apply generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting standards and federal and state grant reporting requirements, including Uniform Grant Guidance Exceptional interpersonal skills Preparation or management of the preparation of a CAFR Preparation or management of the preparation of a SEFA Experience with large financial system implementations (preferred but not required) Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting required Seven years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting or similar accounting duties Two years supervisory experience
