Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) 112th Annual Conference will be held May 6─9, 2018, at America’s Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, Missouri. Shawn Achor will be the first of three keynote presenters at the conference. Achor will speak to all GFOA conference delegates and their guests on May 6, 3:50─5:00 pm (Welcome Reception to follow in America’s Center Convention Complex).
Shawn is one of the world’s leading experts on the connection between happiness and success. He is the New York Times bestselling author of The Happiness Advantage and Before Happiness. Shawn will address attendees and their guests on how to transform their lives, raise both happiness and success rates, and become a “positive genius.” Shawn’s research on happiness made the cover of Harvard Business Review and his TED talk is one of the most popular of all time with over 14 million views.
GFOA’s Annual Conference unites thousands of public finance professionals from across the United States, Canada, and the world to share ideas, develop technical and managerial skills, view new products, and network with peers. Participants can select from preconference training seminars, concurrent sessions, and networking sessions to customize their own educational curriculum.
Sessions will be posted to www.gfoa.org by January 24 and will cover the following areas:
- accounting, auditing, and financial reporting
- budgeting and financial planning
- debt management and capital finance
- leadership development
- pension and benefit administration
- principles of public finance
- risk management
- treasury and investment management.
Fifty scholarships will be awarded per state or province in the amount of the full-conference registration fee to first-time annual conference attendees who are GFOA active government members. The Annual Conference gives participants an opportunity to earn more than 20 CPE credits with additional credits available for preconference sessions. The conference is one of the most broadranging educational opportunities in the public finance field.
