After closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19), careful consideration of the health and well-being of all those involved, and the challenges we know you are facing in your jurisdictions, we have decided to move our 114th Annual Conference, May 17–20, 2020, and preconference seminars (May 15–16, 2020) in New Orleans, Louisiana, from in-person to virtual.
Why a virtual conference?
We recognize how difficult it will be for you to travel in May due to these very uncertain times as well as the financial stress your jurisdiction may now be under. However, we have excellent conference sessions already planned that can assist your professional development and better serve your organization and community. With these thoughts in mind, we are developing a virtual conference that will provide you access to the most relevant conference sessions in an online format and spread over several weeks, beginning in May. Because we will not have concurrent sessions, you will have the added benefit of attending more sessions than would be possible at the in-person conference and earn more CPEs. Please stay tuned as the GFOA team fully develops the virtual conference programs and scheduling.
Do I have options?
For those of you who have already registered for the conference, you have the following options:
- Take advantage of the virtual conference and apply your registration to that.
- Receive a refund.
We know you probably have all your energies focused on responding to COVID-19, so you do not have to make any decision at least until the end of April. We will keep you posted on virtual conference developments and other resources to assist you and your organization.
When you do decide if you would like to transfer your registration to the virtual conference or receive a refund, please complete this form.
