The next Director of Finance for the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda will have the opportunity to perform meaningful and impactful work for an agency that is dedicated to providing affordable housing in the most impacted region of the nation. The agency is interested in candidates with experience in public sector finance, regardless of specific work in the affordable housing space. Accounting experience with HUD or LIHTC funding is an advantage. The AHA is a progressive and growing organization. With an increase in staffing of approximately 25% over the past 5 years, there are currently 59 FTE staff. The AHA works with other units of government, non-profits, and private landlords and has developed strong partnerships with a variety of agencies to provide housing and support services to as many eligible individuals, families, seniors, and persons with disabilities as possible. The AHA has over 600 rental units in its portfolio and 1,845 vouchers. Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities that would ordinarily be gained through extensive breadth and depth of experience in leadership and management is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the qualifications and competencies is with education equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in finance, accounting, economics, business or public administration, or a related field; and seven years of progressively responsible experience in a public agency finance and or accounting setting, including four years of supervisory experience. Experience with affordable housing, Section 8, or other federal or state housing programs is desirable. CPA strongly preferred but not required. Annual salary range is $142,740-$173,496 DOQ.
